Artist Statment
To me, intriguing visuals are the beginning of a story that invites the audience to finish it. I want to lead the audience to a place of discovery where they can be surprised by the ending they create, or lifted by whimsical and playful prompts. Sometimes my work offers a new
perspective that expands understanding and depth of caring in the heart.
I started on the playful side. For years now I’ve painted whimsical images and notes on
packages to friends and family. I’ve even become a bit of a celebrity in post offices from
California to New York. My motto is: “Never send a naked package or envelope to someone
you love!”

More recently I’ve developed my skills and techniques in acrylic and watercolor mediums, but I continue to explore other mediums. My inspiration comes from the natural world as well as people and events. I like to experiment with light, color, and texture whether the mood I want to convey is playful or pensive.
I draw from real life images as well as from ideas and compositions that spring from my imagination. I am interested in guiding my viewer’s journey through my work in a way that draws them in, moves their spirits, and causes them to discover themselves on a deeper and more meaningful level.
